LOS ALTOS
MOUNTAIN VIEW SWIM CLUB (LAMVAC)
LAMVAC is
a year-round, Swim Club based in the cities of Mountain View &
Los Altos in Northern California, USA, and serving a wider Bay
Area. We are
known for our individualized approach to every swimmer, easy
accessibility of coaches and board members, as well as camaraderie
among swimmers and parents. We are a parent run club, separate from
the City of Mountain View's recreational swim classes. We have two
swim breaks during the year: 2 week in late December and 3 weeks in
August.
We
understand that swimmers swim for different reasons: some may wish
to swim fast, others enjoy conditioning, while some
may simply wish to join a friend.
Our core
objective is to foster in every swimmer a life-long love
of swimming. We do this best by acknowledging these
differing individual objectives.
What is a Swim
Team? If this is your first experience with a swim team
you may think that this is all about competition. Not so. Although
swim meets are available (and are great fun for the well-prepared
swimmer) that is not our priority. Think of us as a place that
offers year-round swim classes with the added bonus of
conditioning. A team offers your child a great opportunity to
develop his/her full potential as a swimmer.
Upon
joining LAMVAC one automatically becomes a member
of USA
Swimming, the
National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United
States. USA Swimming is divided into Local
Swim Committees (LSCs) and LAMVAC is part of
the Pacific Swimming LSC. We recommend you
visit Pacific
Swimming website for more
information.
