What Members Need to Know
When your swimmer joins LAMVAC, you are joining a community of parent volunteers. The material here tells you about membership and monthly fees as well as the service obligation expected of all LAMVAC families.
Required family service hours
LAMVAC is a parent-run swim club that relies on family participation to keep our program strong and affordable. As such, service hours are mandatory for all families during the swim season (September - August).
Required Hours by Group
- Tadpole: No hours unless your swimmer participates in a swim meet.
- Summer Program swimmers: No service hours requirement.
- All other groups: 25 hours per family per year. If joining half way through the season (in February or later), we require 10 service hours for that season.
- For families with multiple swimmers, the higher group's requirement applies.
Fees and Fee Schedule
Fee details: Fees are charged automatically on the first of each month. You may take a leave of absence from any level, but you will be charged a $35/month suspension fee.
Annual dues/membership fee: Regular dues do not cover all of the club’s expenses. LAMVAC charges annual membership fee at the beginning of the swim year (September/October) or when you first register. The annual member fee does not apply to Tadpoles or swimmers in the Summer Programs.
Financial assistance: LAMVAC does offer assistance for swimmers at Piranha, Tiger Shark, Junior and Senior team levels. Please email membership@lamvac.org for details.
Fee Schedule can be found at the bottom of this page.
Suspending membership: If you know that your swimmer will take off a full month or more, you must give the team written notice by emailing membership@lamvac.org to avoid full monthly payments.
Leave of absence/suspensions must be received at least 15 days before the end of the month. A $35 suspension fee will be applied to your account each month while your swimmer is on suspension. Please email membership@lamvac.org to suspend and resume your swimmer's membership. Please note the last day in the pool for suspension and the first day of returning to the pool for resuming your swimmer’s membership.
While your swimmer is on a Leave of Absence/Suspension, you still must fulfill your service obligations.
Canceling membership: Please email membership@lamvac.org to cancel your swimmer’s membership. You MUST notify the club by the 15th of the month prior to the start of cancellation, or you may be subject to the full month’s tuition. Please note that the team does not bill for partial months of swimming. For example, If your child’s last day is Oct. 8, the team will bill you for the entire month of October on Oct. 1st. LAMVAC does not refund or prorate fees already charged.
When you cancel your membership, the team will bill you for any family service hours not yet completed for the current swim year (Sept. 1 through Aug. 31). There is no prorating of the service hours obligation unless the team only hosts one swim meet instead of two. If the team only hosts one swim meet for the swim season, the minimum service hours requirement will be reduced from 25 to 20 hours. You will be billed $50 for each service hour your family has not completed. If you would like to complete some of these service hours at one of the team’s upcoming swim meets in the current swim year (March and May), rather than paying for them, you would need to suspend your membership as long as that takes and cancel after you have completed your hours.
Swim-a-thon
Each year LAMVAC hosts a swim-a-thon to raise additional funds for the club. Our swimmers, ages 6 through 18, swim as many laps as they can to raise funds that directly support the LAMVAC Swim Team. Donations from friends, family, and sponsors go toward enhancing our training programs, maintaining high-quality equipment, supporting our coaching staff, and providing opportunities for our athletes to grow and compete.
The Swim-a-thon is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of teamwork, perseverance, and community spirit. Each lap represents the dedication of our swimmers and the encouragement of everyone who supports them.
Home Meets
While there are many meets throughout the season hosted by various clubs in the area, LAMVAC club hosts two home meets every year in March and May. These meets take place at the Eagle or Rengstorff pool, and are fully coordinated and staffed by our club. These two events are where we need all families to volunteer and where the bulk of the service hours will be earned. A mandatory 6.5hrs of service must be done during each of the two home meets by each family. See Meet Schedule for specific dates of Home Meets.
